Automatic Sprinkler Grading Report
ISO's Automatic Sprinkler Grading Report (ASGR) — available through the SPI Plus® system — tells you how well a sprinkler system will protect a building from fire loss.
The report gives you valuable information on:
- the water supply
- system components
- testing history
- nonstandard building conditions
You'll learn quickly whether the building has special conditions — for example, ceilings of excessive height or open-sided areas, such as loading docks — that can affect sprinkler performance.
The ASGR can help you understand the amount of rating credit a property has received for sprinkler protection — that is, how the building's sprinkler protection has reduced the ISO loss cost.
Here's how it works
The Automatic Sprinkler Grading — based on a 100-point scale — reflects the adequacy and condition of the building's sprinkler system. A perfect score indicates no unusual conditions that would affect the expected performance of the sprinkler system. Scores below 100 indicate that deficiencies exist in the system. The final grading is the difference between 100 and the sum of the points for each identified deficiency.
ISO's experts use the standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the criteria in ISO's Specific Commercial Property Evaluation Schedule (SCOPES) to determine the grading.
Ordering an ASGR through SPI Plus
You can use SPI Plus to order ASGRs for commercial properties around the country. You can use ISO's property information database to search for a match from approximately 3 million buildings and more than 5.4 million businesses occupying those buildings. An ASGR is available for most properties ISO has surveyed that have automatic sprinkler systems, even if the property isn't receiving sprinkler credit from ISO.
You also have the option to order a Building Underwriting Report or a Rating Survey Detail Report together with an ASGR. Those reports provide an inside view of a building's construction, occupancy, hazards, and fire protection — offering a powerful combination to give you the information you need for accurate underwriting and competitive pricing.
